What are Trauma & EMDR Therapy sessions like?
During a session together, we’re going to immediately help you feel safe and comfortable. I want to make sure that our time together is a space that you can let all that you’re carrying go and that you know that I’ve got your back. We’re going to spend out time making those necessary connections to things that have happened (some of which you might even realize the impact they’ve had) , learning how the past is sabotaging your future, how to self-regulate and stay in control when feeling triggered, and heal those unhealed wounds.
How long do I need to be in therapy?
The length of therapy is different for everyone and based on your individual needs, but you can expect to work with me between 3-12 months. My ultimate goal is to get you out of therapy as soon as possible because that means you’re able to handle life without my help and life is coming together in the ways you want. You will see immediate and continuous improvements to your day to day life and can expect many “light bulb” and “today years old” moments while working with me!
How do I know if EMDR Therapy will work for me?
Although I can’t make promises, I can tell you that it has been scientifically proven through bouts of research that our brains can heal from trauma and that EMDR therapy works. Our brains are wired to heal and the fact that you are looking into EMDR therapy and reading this sentence is proof enough that your brain wants to heal and is capable of it. With the right support and my expertise working with many women who’ve experienced trauma, I can tell you that it works and you’re deserving of the joy and peace that comes from trauma therapy.
